Beginning of an uptrend for Chinese Classical painting

We have been reviewing and analyzing the market for Chinese Classical painting since 2006, having previously attended to it as interested collectors since the late 1980’s. From 2006 we have circulated market research and analysis on auctions and other current events in the field. Our latest report (11 December 2009) follows:

Autumn 2009 auctions confirm direction

As anticipated, the key November auctions of Chinese Classical painting in Beijing (China Guardian, Beijing Poly) and Hong Kong (Christie’s) were very successful. Their combined sale increased 539% from Autumn 2008 when it was down 60% year-on-year after the financial crisis, or up 155% when compared with the previous peak in Autumn 2007.
